My Preferences overview

The My Preferences page lets each user configure their personal settings in Centercode, including which project loads on sign-in, how dates and times are displayed, which feedback and forum activity triggers notifications, and which projects appear on the community home page. These settings are individual to each user and do not affect other members of the community.

General Settings

Default Project: The project that loads automatically when you sign in to Centercode. Defaults to the last accessed project, but can be set to any project you're a member of. This setting only applies when signing in directly - following a link to a specific project will take you there regardless of this setting.

Show Open Opportunities: When enabled, recruiting opportunities that are available to you will be shown on your community home page.

Receive Updates via Email: When disabled, you will be unsubscribed from non-essential community and project email. Essential email such as password resets and direct admin messages are not affected.

💡 Ted Tip: If you need to make sure users see a specific email regardless of this setting, individual email templates can be marked as essential. Essential email is always delivered even when a user has disabled updates. This is useful for critical communications like onboarding instructions or legal notices.

Forum Post Signature: A text signature that appears automatically on your legacy forum posts.

Date and Time Settings

Use Relative Dates and Times: When enabled, dates and times display in relative terms such as "yesterday," "1 hour ago," or "last week" instead of exact timestamps.

Preferred Date Input Format: Sets the format used when entering and displaying dates. Options are MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, and YYYY/MM/DD.

Preferred Time Format: Sets the format used when displaying times. Options are AM/PM format (e.g. 2:30pm) and 24-hour format (e.g. 14:30).

Auto-Follow Replies on Feedback

Controls which feedback items you automatically follow. When you follow a feedback item, you receive a notification when new replies are added to it. You can enable auto-follow for any combination of the following:

I've Submitted: Automatically follow feedback you've submitted.

Assigned to Me (Owned): Automatically follow feedback assigned to you as the owner.

I've Replied To: Automatically follow feedback you've replied to.

I've Voted On: Automatically follow feedback you've voted on.

Follow User Forum Posts

Threads I've Posted In: When enabled, you will receive notifications when new replies are added to legacy forum threads you've posted in.

Community Home Display Settings

My Projects: Controls which projects are visible to you on your community home page. Use the Show toggle next to each project to show or hide it. Projects that are toggled off will not appear on your community home page, but you can still access them directly.

💡 Ted Tip: If a user can't see a project on their community home page that they should have access to, have them check their My Preferences display settings and verify the project is toggled on under My Projects. This is a common cause of "missing" projects that's easy to overlook.

Notes

  • Preferences are personal to each user. While you can assume an individual user to change their settings, admins cannot configure these settings on behalf of groups of users.
  • Hiding a project in display settings does not remove access to it. Users can still navigate to hidden projects directly.
