Email log filter overview

The Email Log Filter page lets you search through all email sent from your community or project. Whether you're confirming a specific message went out, investigating a delivery issue, or reviewing SMTP errors, this page gives you the controls to find exactly what you're looking for.

Filter Fields

Each field on the filter form targets a different part of the email record. You can fill in one field or several — the filter applies all conditions together to narrow results.

All (first field)A general keyword search across the full email record. Use this when you don't know which specific field contains what you're looking for.

FromFilters by the sender address or display name. Accepts a partial string — entering no-reply will match any sender address containing that text.

To/CC/BCC display nameFilters by the recipient's display name as it appears in the message header. Useful when you know the person's name but not their exact address.

To/CC/BCC email addressFilters by the recipient's email address. Accepts a partial string.

SubjectFilters by the email's subject line. Partial matches work here too.

BodySearches the content of the email body. Use this to find messages that contained specific text or instructions.

Email statusLimits results to email in a particular delivery state. Options include sent, failed, and other status values depending on your configuration.

Email typeFilters by the category of email — such as automated notifications, invitation messages, or manual sends.

Date sent Restricts results to email sent on or around a specific date. Click the field On date to open a date picker.

Display and Result Settings

Results per pageControls how many log entries display at a time. The default is 50. Adjust this if you're reviewing a large volume of email or want a quicker scan.

SMTP errorsA toggle that, when turned on, limits results to email that encountered an SMTP delivery error. Use this when troubleshooting failed sends.

💡 Ted Tip: I recommend toggling on SMTP errors as your first step whenever participants report not receiving expected email. It surfaces delivery failures quickly without requiring you to scroll through the full log.

Saving a Filter

Once you've configured a filter you'll use regularly, click Save this email log filter to store it. Saved filters reappear as options the next time you visit the page, saving you from re-entering the same criteria each session.

Notes

  • The email log reflects outbound email only. Replies and inbound messages from participants are not tracked here.
